I've been longing for that first day when I can kick off my shoes and walk barefoot through the garden. My family and friends know how much I detest wearing shoes. I wear shoes because I have to. In Summer they're the first thing I take off when I get home, and the last thing I put on as I run out of the door on my way to work, and I'm lucky enough to work in an environment where, on the hottest days, I often walk around the office barefoot.
I love it that my youngest daughter's school encourages the kids to play barefoot, and can't understand my eldest daughter's need to wear shoes all the time - although I do know where it comes from.
Bottom line though is that everyone needs shoes. Going hiking? You'll need a sturdy pair of walking shoes. Going running? You'll need a comfortable pair of running shoes. Looking for the right accessory to a hot outfit you're wearing for a night on the town, and you'll be pulling your favourite stilettos out of the cupboard.
The main aim of this post is to bring two things to your attention;
What most of us wear on our feet for the majority of the Summer - slops; and children without slops, in fact children without any shoes at all.
In South Africa alone there is a huge number of children who do not wear shoes on the long walk to school, or on the cold winter days - because they do not have shoes.
In my opinion, education is a necessity, it's not a privilege. Every child should be able to receive an education. The same goes for shoes - every child should have a pair of shoes to wear!
We don't want our feet to be sore so we wear shoes, we don't want our feet to be cold, so we wear shoes. We want to look good, so we wear shoes. We have pairs of shoes in our cupboards that we don't even wear...
How would you feel if for only R100 (and a R60 delivery fee) you could buy a pair of slops for yourself - and a pair of shoes for a child in need? Well, you can...
Barefoot no more are on a mission to shoe the children of Africa - and you can help by buying yourself and your family members a pair of 2 4 1 slops.
Want to know more? Just let me know. I'll send you all the information you need and I'll place your order for you. Easy, isn't it?
Want to see what you'll be wearing on your own feet? Here they are...

| The slops come in black and white. Should a corporate purchase a large number of slops, then they can customise the colour. |
And what about the shoes that the child you give this gift to will be wearing?

| Waterproof, durable, lightweight, comfortable, manufactured locally and recyclable. |
I'll be writing much more about this amazing campaign but the posts will fall under my home page. Go the list of labels in the right hand column of my blog and click on 'Barefoot No More' to find the other posts.
