I love the tiny feet of my daughters - they're soft, round and perfect. Those little feet have so far to go, so many kilometers to travel. As individuals, our girls have such amazing adventures to embark on and I will do my best to never hold them back, remembering always that their lives and loves are their own to discover. I will guide them as best as I can, I will love them with all of my heart and I will encourage them to be the people they want to be.

School holidays

Today is the last day of school and then the kids are on holiday for a week - yippeeee!

I'm so exhausted and desperately in need of some down time. I would love to take a few days off to spend with the kids but I just don't have the leave available, so I'm mightily envious of my husband and his parents who will get to spend loads of time with them. However, I'll make a plan to fit some extra time in and let them stay up a little later in the evenings so that we can enjoy the warmer weather, play outside and have dinner together. The evening routine won't be so...routine - and that alone will be a bit of a break. No lunch boxes to prepare, no alarm clocks in the morning and I can run at 6h30 instead of at 6h00 - giving me an extra half hour to sleep!

Oh my gosh, I'm so excited! I'm know I'm way more excited than the girls are - they just adore school! J's teacher is incredible. This morning J and I arrived at school (with J barefoot as always) to find all her little friends eating breakfast outside in the sunshine. Yesterday, a jumping castle was being delivered as I was leaving - and the day before, the welcoming smell of cupcakes baking in the oven met us warmly at the door. E's school is much more 'scholarly' - she is in Grade 00, after all! However, she too cannot wait to get to school each morning and is totally miz if she has to miss a day due to the infamous cough that so often visits! She throws her bag in her locker, grabs her water, wraps her arms around my neck and then runs off to meet her girlfriends - keeping one eye open to see if a certain boy has arrived.

They won't have as much fun during the holidays as they do at school, but I can see that they are both tired - and need some down time too. Even their swim school is closed for the week so they really are going to be able to chill and spend some time at home rediscovering the millions of toys in their cupboards that they don't get a chance to play with during the term...

And I am going to luxuriate in the extra 30 minutes of sleep per day for 5 whole days.

xx

  2. Totally agree Laura - you only realise when you don't have to rush in the mornings, just how rushed the mornings are! Thanks for always taking the time to comment :-)
