I love the tiny feet of my daughters - they're soft, round and perfect. Those little feet have so far to go, so many kilometers to travel. As individuals, our girls have such amazing adventures to embark on and I will do my best to never hold them back, remembering always that their lives and loves are their own to discover. I will guide them as best as I can, I will love them with all of my heart and I will encourage them to be the people they want to be.

Chairman's Awards 2016

This day would have been a big day for Ella…for us all.

A very special awards ceremony was held at school last week, Wednesday 2 November. All that needs to be said about it is here…

Thank you to my special Faye for designing this for me at a moment's notice!

It was actually a bigger day for me than Derby was. I missed my girl. I missed her excitement and her passion. I missed her little hand in mine and I especially missed seeing her standing amongst her friends, where she should have been, with that grin of pride on her sweet face.

I could barely focus on Wednesday, so I treated Jem and I to an after school ice-cream indulgence. Later on we dressed up and went to meet Stevie P at school. Front row seats for us, and fortunately next to a Mom who has become a friend.

Mrs Henning, Ella’s grade 4 teacher, and head of the Chairman’s Awards had included pictures of Ella, along with the other kids, in the opening presentation, which was a really special gesture.

And as always, the support we received from our school and the other parents that night was what kept me going. Bittersweet...for sure, but I'm glad we were there.

I can only imagine how much Ella would have grown and changed in the last 9 months, and as usual, my heart aches with sadness that she is not here - and my arms long to hold her.

xoxo
