I love the tiny feet of my daughters - they're soft, round and perfect. Those little feet have so far to go, so many kilometers to travel. As individuals, our girls have such amazing adventures to embark on and I will do my best to never hold them back, remembering always that their lives and loves are their own to discover. I will guide them as best as I can, I will love them with all of my heart and I will encourage them to be the people they want to be.

The Epic Brushwood Cycle Challenge

Certain members of my family are cycling fanatics - and so they've been glued to the TV whenever there has been news of the Absa Cape Epic 2011, completed yesterday. My brother and his girlfriend recently joined the other onlookers at the start of the great Cape Epic, taking in the excitement, and cheering on the riders. They took some fabulous pics - see The Pocket Rambler - and in doing so prompted me, this weekend when my little girls were out riding their bikes, to document the event;

"On your marks, get set, go...!!"

"E P, with all her protective gear, gets off to a good start..."
"We see only the back of her as she speeds around the corner, frantically pinging her bell as she goes..."
"J P, the second contestant, decided to change her bike at the start! There must have been something wrong with the other bike. She's a little behind but here she comes, with a look of determination etched onto her young face. She takes the turn, she wobbles, will she fall...?"
"Yaaaay! She rights herself and heads off for the end of the course. A successful day in this epic race!"

  1. Wow! thats a seriously tough course, lucky Jem had the skills to cruise through that technical section otherwise they would of lost valuable time to the other contenders.
