I love the tiny feet of my daughters - they're soft, round and perfect. Those little feet have so far to go, so many kilometers to travel. As individuals, our girls have such amazing adventures to embark on and I will do my best to never hold them back, remembering always that their lives and loves are their own to discover. I will guide them as best as I can, I will love them with all of my heart and I will encourage them to be the people they want to be.

You decide...

Let's set the scene: December. Sunset Beach. Blouberg. Bright sunshine. Vivid blue sky. Wind. Me alone on the beach. Someone told me the ocean is spiritual - and I want to be reminded of that.

The wind is vicious, not even the kite surfers are out. A seagull is flapping around about a meter above the shallow water, he’s trying desperately hard to get somewhere but he's flying into the wind, so for every 5 flaps forward, he’s thrown 10 flaps back. He doesn’t give up, his wings are pumping. I’m fascinated and I’m thinking that he’s either very determined or else intellectually challenged.

Out of the blue, comes a second seagull. She (and yes, I'll refer to her as she) skims only centimetres above the shallow water. Her path is easy, she's going somewhere, and she's getting there - fast! Meanwhile, her fellow flier has been smashed by the wind into a wave, he spirals up and out of the water and manages to keep going – slowly. Rising only higher instead of moving forward. But she keeps going, flying so low that the tips of her wings must be touching the water. She's gaining on her friend, about to overtake him when again *wham* he plummets down into a wave. I catch my breath but he recovers and keeps on. The second gull passes him and I find myself hoping, as they fade into the haze, that he learns from his friend and follows her lead. The poor little dude must be absolutely exhausted.

And so I was left thinking about the nature of human beings...

Some of us just keep going - pushing on and on into that wind with dogged determination. Some of us do it because we have to, because life is just throwing too much at us and we have no choice but to fight the wind. Others of us are just too dam stubborn to realise that life doesn't need to be that hard, that the universe/god is warning us to reconsider our options, whilst yet others just like the drama of the uphill battle.

Then there are people who, for various reasons (be they pure intelligence; hard work; plain luck or an unwavering belief in their emotional vibrations) fly through life like my second seagull. They stay low to the ground yet never go unnoticed. They play hard, work hard and live life to the full. To an outsider it seems that this person's existence is easy but, really, this person is just in tune with who, what and where they are.

Some people experience life like this, where they fly under the radar but above the shit. Other people experience days like this. The bottom line is that it’s your life, it’s your day – you decide!

Peace, love and abundance
xx
